Facebook’s photo sharing subsidiary Instagram has promoted the company’s director of product management Vishal Shah as the new product head of the company.
Playing the role of director of product management, Shah was responsible for the consumer, business, and revenue products divisions, including IGTV, shopping, search, explore and ads.
Shah joined Instagram back in 2015 when Adam Mosseri was the head of the company.
This appointment has come at a time when its parent company Facebook is under heavy criticism due to how it has managed the users’ data in the past while it defends against political efforts to spread false information.
Instagram too has been cleaning up its acts by removing fake followers and bots from its platform.
2018 might be a good year for Shah, it certainly hasn’t been that generous for Facebook as Instagram saw two of its founders Mike Krieger and Kevin Systrom stepping down this year.
To make things worse it also witnessed the departures of co-founders of Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp Jan Koum and Brian Acton.
