On July 1, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a group of 150 social media influencers at 7 RCR. The exclusive, invite-only, no selfie-allowed event was organized on the sidelines of the Digital India initiative.
The event has sparked two main controversies.
Some of Modi’s supporters who were left out of the Prime Minister’s guest list took to Twitter to vent their anger against the BJP’s IT cell.
While addressing the group of social media influencers who had come to Delhi from all parts of the country, Prime Minister Modi stressed on “positive language even while facing abuse” online. OpIndia quotes him as saying
If all the abuses I receive are printed on a paper, the entire premises of Taj Mahal will be covered.

Ironically, it has divided BJP’s Twitter army, some of whom started targeting the #Super150 who were invited to the PM’s official residence.
Among the 150 special invitees was also the Convenor of the Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena which shot to infamy for its attack on senior lawyer Prashant Bhushan after he suggested a referendum for J&K.
Even Tajinder Pal Bagga drew a line when he was trolled for being among the #Super150 who were selected to meet Modi.
Apart from the internal rebellion within the BJP’s Twitter army, PM Modi’s meeting with #Super150 that included several abusive trolls, also gave fodder to the opposition.
A lot of these accounts like @indiantweeter have been deleted.
