Twitter has announced it is ending support for its dedicated desktop Mac application and that it has pulled it from the web and from Apple's App Store. Support for Twitter for Mac will end in 30 days, the micro-blogging site added.

This means that users will have to use the website or services such as Tweetdeck or third-party apps. The app, before Twitter pulled it, had an average user rating on the Apple App Store of 1.7 out of five.

The decision to cull the native desktop app for Mac OS users hardly comes as a surprise and this move could work out in favour of other third-party Twitter apps like Twitterrific, who’re looking to make the best from the situation by offering their Mac version app at a reduced price.

That is an accurate approximation of most people's attitude toward the software which has never quite been as robust as third-party clients like Tweetbot or even in-house services like Tweetdeck, according to The Verge.

"Twitter failed time and again to keep its Mac app up-to-date with the service's latest features – it took the company more than seven months to bring "Moments" which launched in October of 2015, to its Mac client," The Verge report said.

Shutting down the native app also puts the emphasis on the web-version of Twitter to work seamlessly for users on every existing mobile and desktop platforms.

The baby girl, who we will refer to as 'Chhutki', was allegedly raped by her 28-year-old cousin when her parents were away. She has been discharged from AIIMS hospital after undergoing three surgeries, but needs more medical treatment in order to heal completely. Her parents hail from a low-income group and have stopped going to work so that they can take care of the baby. You can help cover Chhutki's medical expenses and secure her future. Every little bit counts. Click here to donate.)
