Anybody who’s not in the wearable products space in India right now is not doing it right. Xiaomi, Motorola, Huawei and Samsung are some of the many brands that offer their wearable products in the country. When we talk about domestic brands, you have Intex and Micromax’s Yu Televentures filling in the vacuum, and now they have Portronics joining the list.
This company has introduced the Yogg fitness band that comes with an OLED display for message/call notification. Just like every other fitness wearable, Yogg can also track your movement, monitor sleep etc.
Priced at Rs 2,999, Portronics may not be a household name in the market, but with the Yogg fitness band, the company is looking to change its image and offer a competent product. Xiaomi leads this segment in India with the Rs 799 Mi Band, while Yu failed with its YuFit earlier this year.
Its going to be tough for Portronics to get people’s attention, but if they can offer a quality product at a pocket-friendly price point, then other wearables costing Rs 10,000 and up will not catch anyone’s fancy. And if that doesn’t work, then Portronics must be hoping that their 5 days battery life claim can turn into a reality.
