Phone security has improved by leaps and bounds; what began as simple 4-code passwords have given way to biometric security and fingerprint IDs. Now, however, it is time for the next big thing which could really work.
We’re talking about the Iris IDs that will power next generation phones like the Samsung Galaxy Note 7.
However, the first phone to have an in-built eye-scanner was Microsoft’s Lumia 950 and the Lumia 950 XL, but the phones lacked a fingerprint scanner on the other end.
Iris Scanner > Fingerprint Scanner
The iris scanner will come as a relief to some consumers, especially those in the enterprise sector. Chances of phones being hacked via fingerprint IDs are higher, when compared to those equipped with the Iris scanner.
In all probability, the Galaxy Note 7 will be first among many other iris scanner-equipped high-end phones to be introduced in the market soon.
BlackBerry would have been the ideal candidate to work on a business-centric device enabled with an Iris scanner, but that’s not happening anymore. (Read: BlackBerry DTEK 50).
Make Banking, Data Safer
Hackers will have to resort to extreme measures if they want to bypass a person’s eye-scanner equipped device. The person owning the device will be the only one capable of unlocking the device, and accessing confidential data from it.
Banking transactions based on Iris ID technology could go a long way in establishing a true digital identity for millions across the world, who need no longer worry about mishaps.
Futuristic phones with Iris IDs are sure to remind you of the James Bond or Jason Bourne movies, full of cool gadgets that can only be hacked by top security units.
