2. Meet Indus OS, the Made in India Android for Smartphones

Android is an open source mobile platform. The openness of Android has been utilised by phone makers across the globe to good effect. India is one of the biggest smartphone markets right now, with over 90 percent users preferring Android.

Smartphones, these days, are designed using a tried-and-tested but slightly predictable formula. Imagine any shape (as long as it’s rectangular!), add in liberal amounts of glass and plastic (or metal, if you’re aiming for a premium look), tack on a camera and a home button and your basic design is ready!

Hats off then to LG for trying something out of the box with the G5. But is it really the modular product we have been waiting to see?
