Mukesh Ambani owned Reliance Jio could be violating privacy laws if recent claims by hacktivist group Anonymous are to be believed.

The group has alleged that Reliance Jio is selling user call data to targeted ad networks in the US and Singapore in return for money without informing users.

Tech giant Google today announced a bouquet of new products for the Indian market that are suited to work with low Internet speeds.

These include a new Wi-Fi platform called Google Station, a video app called ‘YouTube Go’ and an offline feature for Chrome web browser and faster loading in Google Play on 2G network.

Outlining the three key areas of focus – access, products and platforms – Google Vice President (Next Billion Users) Caesar Sengupta said that the US-based company is working to provide a better and more inclusive online experience for users in India.

4. Privacy Laws After WhatsApp Episode Can’t Come Any Sooner in India

If there’s one thing that we have learnt from the recent WhatsApp data privacy saga, it is India’s urgent need to get privacy laws in place covering such aspects. It’s still a big win for users in India, but there’s a long way to go before our standards match that of the West.

We highlighted what the Delhi high court order spoke earlier this month, which also included the part where legally, they couldn’t hold WhatsApp in contempt of any laws.

5. Drones at Our Doorstep: Do We Really Trust Police With These?

The bomber advanced. Holding the explosive  aloft, offering the target no avenue of escape. 

It detonated, destroying the cornered man in a flash. The bomber survived.

The bomber’s name? It’s a mouthful – Remotec Andros Mark V-A1; the drone that took out Micah Xavier Johnson, the Dallas shooter who had gone on a rampage, killing five police officers and wounding seven before he was executed by the robot.
