On World Music Day, Taylor Swift pulled up Apple Music by writing an open letter to them regarding their payment policy. The singer criticised Apple for not paying royalties to artists during the three-month free trial period for its new Apple Music service.

Well, Apple was ‘swift’ to respond, in less than 24 hours the company announced that it was reversing its policy and would pay artists for streams accrued during the free three-month-trial period. Eddy Cue, Apple’s vice president took to Twitter to respond to the singer’s letter.
“When I woke up this morning and I saw Taylor’s note that she had written, it really solidified that we needed to make a change,” said Cue in an interview with The Associated Press.
The time between Taylor Swift’s open letter and one of the world’s biggest companies change in plan was seventeen hours. Thanks to social media and girl-power!
