It seems like April Fool’s Day fever has now spread all the way to June. Earlier today, reports emerged that Shah Rukh Khan is set to become the brand ambassador for Apple in India.

Yes, the same brand which has never thought of short-selling its products, most notably the iPhone. It seems these rumours are largely based on recent events where Apple CEO Tim Cook attended a lavish party hosted by the Bollywood superstar at his Mannat residence.

But what are the odds that Cook might have approached SRK at the party and asked him to represent the brand? Zilch.

To make things worse, it was also speculated that the announcement of having SRK on board will be made at the launch of the next generation iPhone later this year. From what it looks like, this story has merely worked as a sensationalist storyline with loose ends.

A follow up report from ANI pretty much confirms our standpoint. It states that rumours of Shah Rukh Khan being approached to become Apple’s brand ambassador in India are false.

The company does not need a brand ambassador in India or anywhere else.
An insider told ANI

We understand the nature of Tim Cook’s recent visit to India was a mixed bag. But it’s hard to countenance the thought that Apple would be so desperate to grow its position in India that they’d consider a brand ambassador as part of their plans.
