Watch: Review of Intex Aqua Speed HD
There are so many budget smartphones in the market these days that it’s hard to keep track of them.
The consumer is spoiled for choice here.
To add to the confusion Intex, a home grown technology company, has come out with the Intex Aqua Speed HD at a price tag of Rs 8,990.
They have done a pretty decent job here. If you have been following the IPL, it’s bombarded with the ads of this smartphone.
(Remember Bhaskar Bhai aataktein hai par unka phone nahi?)
The USP of this smartphone is its 2GB RAM, which is great for multitasking.
So we thought why not tell you whether this smartphone is worth your money or not?
What’s Good?
This smartphone comes in a budget so don’t expect it to move mountains.
But the Intex Aqua Speed HD is a serious device with some good hardware to it.
The 4.7 inch display on the Intex Aqua Speed HD is actually pretty impressive and the size is just right for use with a single hand.
The display is bright and has a warm tone to it.
The phone comes with a 1.3GHz Quad core processor, similar to what you see on other budget smartphones like the Motorola Moto E and Xiaomi Redmi 2.
The processor does deliver optimum performance.
The phone does not lag much even if you open up 10 apps simultaneously on the device.
But don’t expect playing games to be smooth on the Intex Aqua Speed HD. It’s just good for normal multitasking.
The camera on the Intex Aqua Speed HD is also better than what you usually get for this price.
The 8 megapixel rear camera delivers better quality images compared to the Motorola Moto E.
So, the Intex Aqua Speed HD does check all the right boxes when it comes to a budget smartphone.
What’s Bad?
The design on the Intex Aqua Speed HD lacks imagination. At best, it’s a hybrid inspired by the iPhone and Sony Xperia.
Intex Aqua Speed HD’s golden side rails are a bit garish. The phone also appears to be fragile and not as sturdy as the Motorola Moto E.
Intex Aqua Speed comes with Android 4.4 Kitkat out-of-the-box and it’s not a stock android experience.
And you can’t expect a Lollipop update on it anytime soon. (We don’t think it will ever come)
The 5 megapixel selfie camera sounds promising on paper, but the images usually come out hazy. That was another turn off for the Intex Aqua Speed HD.
And lastly the 1700mAh is just not enough for this one.
Why Buy it?
If you are looking for a budget smartphone with average usage the Intex Aqua Speed HD will not disappoint you at all.
At Rs 8,990 it is more expensive than the Motorola Moto E and the Xiaomi Redmi 2, but it scores better as a multitasker and for its rear camera.
So if you are not a fan of Motorola or Xiaomi, Intex Aqua Speed HD is the budget phone for you.
