Reliance Jio will commercially launch JioFiber broadband service in the country on Thursday, 5 September. With the telecom operator not sharing the details about its offering, consumers are waiting to see how much Jio will charge for its broadband services.

We managed to speak to a user who installed JioFiber in its beta phase in July, and according to the Jio executive assigned for his locality, the broadband service from Jio is most likely going to offer free access to the internet for 90 days. This is likely to be applicable from the date JioFiber broadband was made available to the user at his/her premises.

It is also expected, during this period, the user will be able to consume over 1,000GB data per month, wherein they will get internet access speeds up to 100Mbps.

We have also managed to come across details that existing JioFiber users are seeing on their MyJio app from 5 September. As you can see here, the DualPlay plan for the user will be valid to 30 October, 2019 which means, they are getting free internet service for up to 90 days from activation at their home.

The initial set of users on JioFiber were offered two options; either pay Rs 4,500 as refundable security to avail the high-speed internet plan, or Rs 2,500 for the smaller router and 100Mbps plan, which was offered few months back.

But recently, Jio stopped offering the Rs 4,500 plan in favour of the Rs 2,500 one, giving the user a bundled router and service package, with speeds up to 100Mbps on offer.

However, in the coming days, as informed by the Jio executive, Jio is likely to replace the existing black-coloured router with a blue-coloured Jio router, which has been spotted on the internet few days back. The black-coloured router is just a wi-fi router, while the blue one is more advanced.

This device packs hybrid features, allowing the user to connect their DTH service to the TV via HDMI, as well as run streaming platforms from Android app store as well.

JioFiber service is also accessible for making voice calls through the Jio app on the mobile, and the operator has issued an eight-digit phone number from which unlimited calls can be made.

All said, we’ll wait for official details from the telco, which are expected to be made available on its website and MyJio app on Thursday.
