Reliance Jio is busy prepping for the launch of its broadband service in the country but that doesn’t mean it has forgotten about its mobile users.

Which is why, it’s worth noting that the telco, also claiming to be a digital entity, is now offering cloud storage facility to its 330 million user base in India. And that’s not all, you get 5GB free storage if you sign up with the telco today.

For those who’ve already got cloud accounts with Google and Apple, this might not be too appealing, but for many out there, who haven’t, this might be a good time to try out storage on the cloud ecosystem.

So if you’re keen on signing up for the free cloud storage from Jio, here’s what you need to do.

The Cloud app is available in two ways. Either you can download the standalone app from the MyJio app (Jio’s app store) and (probably) sign up with their mobile number or registered email ID.

The telco is offering free cloud storage to people who’re willing to sign up for its cloud storage ecosystem.

To get the 5GB free storage, you’ll have to sign up from the MyJio app, where the JioCloud app is listed. By clicking on it, you’ll be directed to the page, which lists out the features of using the JioCloud ecosystem for storing all types of data files.

The app’s listing says you can store files of any type and size but it’ll be interesting to see how quickly or slowly the files upload to the respective cloud accounts.

Through the JioCloud app, users can access the files from smartphone, laptop and Jio claims it will work with TVs also. We’re not sure how that’s going to be possible right now.

In terms of security, people using Google and Apple cloud storage, know of its benefits and how much they cost to use. When it comes to Jio, we’re not sure of its security measures, and whether it caters to user’s privacy in the best possible manner.
