Micromax Launches the Most Affordable Android Lollipop Smartphone
Here’s why Micromax Canvas Spark is the most affordable Android Lollipop smartphone in India.
How good can a smartphone be if it is priced under Rs 5,000?
Probably not the best bet – is what a lot of nay-sayers would say. But Micromax, a homegrown technology company, has always had a different idea of budget smartphones and it continues to hold its own with this one.
Micromax on April 21, 2015 launched their all new budget offering, the Micromax Canvas Spark. Priced at only Rs 4,999, it packs in a lot of hardware – at least on paper – for a sub Rs 5,000 smartphone.
Incidentally, the Canvas Spark (available in a choice of two colours – White & Gold and Silver & Grey) will be available exclusively on Snapdeal where users can register starting 12 pm on April 22 to book their smartphone.
Weighing in at only 134 grams, the phone sports a 4.7-inch qHD IPS display and has an 8 megapixel camera with an M8 Largan Lens and OV sensor 8858. Selfie addicts get a 2MP camera.
There is no 4G connectivity option, but the dual-SIM smartphone supports 3G. The Canvas Spark runs on a 1.3 GHz quad core Cortex A7 processor packed with a 1 GB RAM and an 8 GB internal memory that is expandable up to 32 GB via a micro SD card.
The phone runs on the latest Android Lollipop 5.0 and at the price point that it has to offer is the most affordable device running on the latest Android platform. There is also a 2000 mAh battery on the Canvas Spark.
On paper, the Canvas Spark looks like a great device. Its specs are certainly better than the existing budget smartphone options like the Motorola Moto E (2nd Gen) and the Xiaomi Redmi 2. But how will this most affordable of Android Lollipop smartphones fare in the hands of a consumer? Expect a review soon.
