HTC has been bombarding the Indian market with affordable smartphones that promise reliability, and it has rolled out the HTC Desire 820s. This smartphone, called a ‘phablet’ because it comes with a large 5.5 inch screen (think Samsung Note 4), is good-looking and puts a smile on your face.

HTC Desire 820s has a powerful Octa-core 1.7 GHz Mediatek MT6752 Processor with 2GB RAM.

What’s Good?

The Desire 820s comes with a fantastic build quality and the phablet is on the lighter side weighing only 155 grams. It comes with 4G LTE connectivity, which is good considering India is entering the 4G era. In terms of performance, the HTC Desire 820s is a bit better than the Nexus 5. Under the hood is a powerful Octa-Core 1.7GHz ARM Cortex A53 64bit chipset by MediaTek coupled with 2GB RAM. That is all you need anyways on a phablet. The 8-megapixel selfie camera is all you need to go viral. The image quality of both the rear and the front camera is clear and focused.

What’s Bad?

HTC has equipped the phone with a disappointing 2600 mAh battery that gets juiced out in just 12 hours. That’s on the lower side for a phablet. They could have easily sneaked in a 3000 mAh battery.

The display on the Desire 820s is not at par with the kind of smartphones that you get in the Rs. 25,000 price bracket. Its display is reflective and has a cool tone to it and is not very bright making it difficult to view in sunlight. The phone also packs in an older android OS, which some people might like. But those who like to have the latest will be disappointed.

HTC Desire 820s runs an older version of Android with the latest HTC Sense 6.0 UI.

Why Buy it?

HTC Desire 820s is performer and there’s no doubt about that. Even the camera is good. But then the display is average and the battery doesn’t last you long enough. It also comes with an older version of Android. Many will find the Rs 24,890 price-tag too steep.
