Another case of a phone explosion has popped up in the news this week, and this time, the victim at-large was a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 owner. This is one of the top-selling phones in the country in 2017, but apparently it can still burst into flames.
The company is looking into the matter right now, to ascertain the cause of the battery going up in flames. However, for us, as a phone user, here are some measures which, if taken, could ensure you don’t have to contend with a burning phone inside your pocket.
Don't Use Third-Party Chargers
Avoid using third party non-certified chargers. It is simply not worth saving money and buying a cheap and unreliable charger for your phone.
Making electronic devices includes hundreds of components, and the end product is only as good as the raw materials put to use. These accidents don’t happen often, but when they do, it is hard to take them lightly.
Don't Overcharge Phones
Please, people, if your phone is not at 100%, it doesn’t mean you have to charge it. Even if there’s 85% or 60% juice in the tank, it should suffice.
Avoid overcharging your phone battery. NEVER put your phone on charge and go to sleep. Instead, charge it through the day. In some cases, the phone has exploded while it was charging.
With electricity flowing in, the tiny regulator fails to do its job sometimes, resulting in a thermal surge, and the voltage regulator cannot stop the mad max turn of events.
In order to prevent such accidents, use certified power banks from reputed companies. If the power bank has crazy good amperage and costs less, its quality could be highly suspect.
Also, special mention: Do NOT buy power banks from seller that you bump into at traffic lights.
Use your Phone Judiciously, Sensibly
Do not exert too much pressure on your smartphone. In an age where everything is smartphone dependent, it can be quite difficult. But it is essential that users make judicious use of their phones. If you feel that the phone is heating beyond its actual levels, better to switch it off and power it on after a while.
Don’t Overuse the Charging Cable
Apple users might agree to this (after all, their cables and chargers cost so much), but Android users are spoilt for choice, and that’s primarily because their standards are widely available in the market. But even then, you need to make sure that the cables are in healthy condition, which could also make or break your phone.
So, there you have it, follow some of these basic and critical steps and your phone will (hopefully) not burst into flames.
