Google Pixel Event 2018: Here’s all that you can expect at the event.

October has been a busy month for Google, ever since it has entered the hardware segment and this year is no different.

The company’s gala event is set to witness the launch of two new phones from Google’s portfolio, namely the Google Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL. The company hasn’t made an official announcement about other hardware that it might launch but rumours speak otherwise.

So, here’s what you can expect from Google’s main event on 9 October.

Google Pixel & Pixel XL

One thing that’ll surely be making an appearance at the event are the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Thanks to numerous leaks on the internet the new Pixel phones might come with a notch design and added glass on the body. The design philosophy might not be different from its predecessors though might see a bit of trimming to reduce the phone’s width.

In term of specs, the new Pixel phones are touted to come with the latest Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with RAM options of 4/6GB, mostly to support AR gaming.

In terms of storage we can expect a 64GB, 128GB and also a more premium 256GB variant this year.

Considered to pack one of the best camera in the smartphone industry, the Pixel 2 won a lot of accolades for its stellar camera performance. The Pixel 3 has big shoes to fill, hence expect a considerable upgrade in the camera department.

A Google Smart Screen

If you have seen the Amazon Echo Show you’ll surely get an idea what Google’s smart screen will look like. It is touted to be a smart-screen bundled with Google’s Assistant and with capabilities of offering features like smart-home automation, photos, weather, timers, YouTube and more.

This devices will be running on the same platform as Google’s smart speakers, only that it will come with a display. It’s possible that Google will name it Google Home Hub.

The company had showcased some of the hardware partners like Lenovo and LG it has associated itself with for the Home Hub.

New Chromecast

The new Chromecast is also in the reckoning for an upgrade and we may get to see the it at the Pixel event this week. Google’s video streaming hardware goes in direct competition with the Amazon FireTV Stick — and this time it is likely to come with Bluetooth connectivity and also more- powerful Wi-Fi.

I don’t think there will be any changes in terms of design but you can expect 4K streaming and also support for Amazon Prime video.

Pixel Slate

Remember last year’s Pixel Book? Well, Google is expected to launch something around those lines this year around and what many techies are referring to as the “Pixel Slate”.

Since the company is building its Chrome OS for tablet mode so its safe to say that we can expect a tablet to be launched.

The Pixel Slate is expected to come with a fingerprint reader bundled with a big screen with a USB-C port support. The Slate may offer a keyboard which is any day better than to connect a keyboard via Bluetooth that keeps failing incessantly.

A Bonus

Pixel Buds

Google already tried its hand in the audio hardware sector, though its attempt to deliver the “perfect headphones” turned out to be a disaster.

I am talking about the Pixel Buds. Though the headphones itself is wireless, the wire that connects to the two buds didn’t find many takers, especially the audiophiles, who were looking for product with better ergonomics, and not to mention, audio quality.

To make amends Google could launch the Pixel Buds 2 which I hope are truly wireless and offer better sound, something that’s worked well for Apple with the AirPods.
