Google is preparing the podium for the announcement of the Pixel 2, and most likely the Pixel 2 XL, in the coming months.

And in the build up to the launch, we’ve come across various leaks, design suggestions and features that are expected to power the second iteration of Pixel. But before you start the ‘guess the price’ game, here’s a look at everything that’s been said about the Pixel 2 until now.

Pixel 2 Design: Big Bezels to Stay?

Whatever pictures of the Pixel 2 have been shared till now, they have raised some concerns as to which direction Google is headed. The big bezel-laden Pixel 2 products shots leaked by serial leakster Evleaks have forced people to reconsider their wait to buy the new Google flagship phone.

Big bezels in 2017 seems unthinkable, especially with Apple now looking to move in the direction that’s been set up by Samsung with the Galaxy S8 in 2017. But the visual below is supposed to be of the phone that will be unveiled in a couple of months from now, and frankly, we’re not impressed.

If this is what Google expects people to pay upwards of Rs 60,000 for, then it’s too late to go back on this product design. This could make a serious dent in Google’s aspirations with the Pixel this year, and we’re just hoping, for once, the man with a clean record has got this one wrong.

Not only should the Pixel 2 be much sleeker than what we’ve seen till now, it also needs to carry the flagship-standard that buyers look for nowadays.

The Power that Matters

Google Pixel 2 should most definitely come powered with the Snapdragon 835 processor, which is already available with the OnePlus 5 and Sony Xperia XZs. Pairing this SoC should be 4GB RAM (maybe a 6GB option too) that is expected to come in 32 and 128GB storage options.

In addition, Google should offer a big-size battery unit on both Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL, even though there’s a lot riding on how Android 8.0 works out.

Camera – Dual or It’s a Deal Breaker

While Pixel packs a high-quality camera, comparable to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and even the iPhone 7 Plus, the Pixel 2 Google’s got to offer dual-camera set up. And even if they don’t (just to make their case), the sensor needs to be top-notch, something that compensates for not going dual-thronged.

Samsung’s already geared up with the Galaxy Note 8 in 2017, so it makes no sense for Google to not take the same route.

Betting High Price on Pixel 2 Against iPhone

If history of the Pixel’s pricing has taught us anything then we expect Google to for the juggernaut yet again.

The Pixel started from Rs 67,000 in India in 2016, and with Pixel 2, the stakes might be much higher (although we’d like Google to go competitive this year). So, a Rs 70,000 starting point for the Pixel 2, going up to 85-90K for the Pixel 2 XL top variant cannot be discounted.

The launch is still a few months away, but stay tuned to The Quint for more updates on the Pixel 2 and its price in India.
