Windows 10 users who opt for Google Chrome as their preferred web browser will soon be able to enter the ‘dark side’ of the browser. Not literally but according to latest reports, Chrome on the mostly available Windows version in the market will soon be supporting a dark mode.

This another indication that Google was serious few months back, when it recommended people to use apps or products in dark mode, in order to preserve battery life. Chrome won’t be the first Google product to get the feature, with YouTube sporting the look for quite sometime now.

This upcoming feature support was confirmed in a report by TechDows without revealing the launch time frame for the option to roll out for Windows 10 users. Dark mode essentially changes the overall colour theme of an operating system (OS) or applications to the colour black.

The report also gains further credibility by quoting Peter Kasting, a member of the Chromium team and senior Chrome Engineer, who on a Reddit post said: “native dark mode support is in progress.”’

Kasting, earlier in 2018 had pointed out that having a dark mode feature on Chrome is technically possible and it was high on demand from Windows 10 users. This is likely to have played a part in the Chromium team of engineers working on a solution that’ll please the users.

Speaking about the benefits of using apps on dark mode, Google, during of one its developer summit talked about how dark mode can use 43 percent less power at full brightness than "normal mode" in the YouTube app which traditionally uses a lot of white.
