It’s taken a while, but the day might finally come when Google CEO Sundar Pichai testifies in front of Congress ready to face the brickbats from US congress. Pichai will testify on 5 December, according to a report in The Washington Post.

This will be the first time that a Google representative will be testifying in front of a judicial body.

Sundar Pichai is likely to respond to questions from the House Judiciary Committee in a session that’s likely to focus on questions around Google’s political bias in its search results as there are some Republicans who claim that Google is biased against conservatives. The session could also focus upon a censored version of the search engine that Google is preparing for the Chinese market.

The session will be telecast live which means it’s bound to draw a lot of attention from world media and also the general public.

The last time Sundar was in Washington was when he had a private meet with Republican lawmakers.

Google faced a lot of flak as it had decided to skip a public hearing where both Facebook’s Sheryl Sandberg and Twitter’s Jack Dorsey were present and were at the receiving end of some very tough questions on policy and some harsh criticism.

Google also skipped the hearing in April where Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg testified for two days.
