Gionee really knows how to design a slim smartphone. They proved themselves with the Gionee Elife S 5.1 and now the company has come out with their latest flagship smartphone, the Gionee Elfie S7. It’s a slim smartphone that is only 5.5 mm thick. You can cut a slice of pizza with it. But how good is it?

What’s Good?
Gionee Elife S7 sports a unibody design that is shiny and slim. It is a smartphone that has comes with a bling quotient. The phone is a little big for single-hand usage but people who like big screens on a smartphone will love it.
The Gionee Elife S7 has a massive 5.2 inch Full HD Super AMOLED display that’s super bright and non-reflective under sunlight. The colour fidelity is good and overall it’s one display that will not disappoint you at all. The display is also sturdy enough because of Gorilla Glass 3 protection.
Performance-wise, the S7 is a stable smartphone. The 64-bit Octa core SoC (System on Chip) processor is clocked at 1.7 GHz. The Mediatek MT6572 processor is responsive and fast though the phone does tend to heat up at times over extended usage. There is also 2GB of RAM which is sufficient enough for regular usage.
The phone handles multitasking smoothly and overall has no issues when it comes to performance. The 8-megapixel selfie camera is actually great for taking selfies on the go.
What’s Bad?
The Gionee Elife E7 comes loaded with a 13-megapixel rear camera that is good for shooting in daylight but during low-light conditions, it churns out hazy images. The reach of the flash isn’t great either.
The Gionee Elife S7 comes with a non-removable 2750 mAh polymer battery, which isn’t ideal if you are looking for a phone that will last you 24 hours. When we used it, the phone just struggled to make it through the day.
Given that the phone is slim, this was expected. The price tag of Rs 24,999 is a bit too steep however. Considering that you can get better smartphones like the HTC Desire 826 or even Xiaomi Mi4 for less. But because it looks so smart, it might just justify its price-tag.
Why Buy it?
Gionee Elife S7 lands in the mid-range Android phone category because of its price. It’s a safe smartphone to have with decent specifications. It has got the looks to kill, but the lack of expandable storage memory and the not-great battery back-up are the Achilles’ heel for the S7.
Buy it only if you want a different looking Android Smartphone. For 24,999 you can get better smartphones in the market with better specifications. Overall, the Gionee S7 is just another smartphone but with killer looks and display.
