Facebook Lite has reached 100 million monthly active users in 2016. In less than nine months since its launch, Facebook Lite has become the fastest growing version of Facebook to hit that milestone.
Facebook Lite supports more than 50 languages and uses just 1 MB space on a smartphone.
Facebook also announced new features for Facebook Lite including support for video, multiple photo uploads, pinch-to-zoom for photos, emojis, and more.
Facebook Lite was launched in June 2015 to make it easier for people to access Facebook on older phones or slower connections. It was basically launched to reach users in low connectivity areas which still run on 2G services.
Initially it faced a lot of bugs and the user experience was not that great. But the company has ironed out minor kinks for the app to function smoothly now.
