The future belongs to self-driving cars, automated smart homes and now, self-tying shoes. While it’s going to be a while before we see the first two in our list truly taking off, Nike has something to say on the footwear front, getting inspiration from the Back to the Future movies.
The footwear maker released the updated Nike MAG on Back to the Future Day on 21 October, with it set to go on sale in spring 2016. A version of the shoe was released in 2011, and although they looked very similar to the shoes worn in the movie they lacked the self-lacing technology.
Self-Tying but How?
Nike MAG shoes comes with built-in motorised system, which enables the shoelaces and straps to tie up around the spools. This motorised system has been constructed separately around the foot and ankle, so clearly there’s a lot of rocket science behind the Nike’s new shoes.
How much is it going to cost? For self-tying shoes get ready to loosen your pockets like never before.
This is how the Nike MAG works its magic.
