Apple’s moving ahead with further security integration of Face ID/Thumb ID to more of its services. You can already lock device access to these biometric features, but with iOS 13 users will be able to lock their iCloud accounts as well.

This option has been spotted by guys at 9to5Mac this week, who were able to use it via the beta version of iOS 13 on their devices.

It’s interesting to see this feature rolling out on iOS 13, especially when Apple didn’t mention its availability during the WWDC 2019 keynote last month.

In case of if you’re using a device running on the Mac OS Catalina beta version, and you’ve got a device that supports Face ID, head over to beta.icloud.com on the phone/MacBook running the beta versions.

The use of Face ID/Thumb ID to secure iCloud account is a smart move for Apple users, who’re most certainly going to feel assured of the feature and their account being safe. You’ve already been using the biometric feature to pay for apps via Apple App store.

The report highlights the beta version links to beta website of iCloud, and that is when you’ll see a pop-up box that lets you open the account via Face ID or Thumb ID. This option is only available to those who’re running the beta version of iOS and MacOS Catalina right now.

Apple has been clamouring to keep the data of its users safe and secure. And to show its commitment, they even introduced a Apple Sign in feature, which will make sure, no third-party companies get access to your email ID and other relevant data.

Having said that, if major outages strike unexpectedly, then even the user in question is going to be unable to access his or her account.

Earlier this month, many users in the US and parts of Europe were unable to access their data and other services of Apple like iWork and even Photos for more than couple of hours.
