It's 28 September, the much awaited date when the new iPhones go on sale in India. The surprising bit is that iZenica stores have been shut down across the country because of which people who had pre-booked the iPhones are hunting for these multi-brand stores where the new models are available. On the whole, stores across the country haven’t seen an overwhelming crowd this time.

According to media reports, Apples' Pan India seller iZenica was closed days before the sale due to their owners being held in a fraud case. And it seems the customers weren't informed about its closure.

Most store sellers we spoke to said that people who’ve pre-booked their iPhones were the first to get the units. The likes of Croma were still waiting for buyers to throng their outlets and grab hold of the latest iPhones, launched with a starting price tag of Rs 99,900 this year.

Interestingly, people are finding more interest in the iPhone XS Max, which, for an iPhone has a 6.5-inch screen, the biggest ever till date. The new iPhones are also the first to support dual-SIM, albeit the second number will deploy an eSIM, which Apple will make available via a software update before end of the year.

The iPhone XS Max starts at Rs 1,09,900 and this year you can get the XS and XS Max in 64, 256 or 512GB storage variants. Both the phones look similar to the iPhone X and come with an all-new OLED Retina display with 458 pixels per inch. The phone uses Dolby's Vision engine to enhance the display. They get an A12 bionic processor and 12-megapixel dual rear cameras.

Those looking to buy the new iPhones could rely on Airtel and Reliance Jio for pre-booking, while Flipkart took the onus for the devices via the online channel.
