What if we tell you that a smartphone (and not a feature phone) priced at under Rs 500 is going to the launched in the country this month? Until now, you could have only bought a feature phone for this price but it seems things are finally changing for good.
India-based mobile brand, Ringing Bells is set to unveil the first ever smartphone in the country to be priced below Rs 500. The company will make the announcement at an event later this week.
Usually, you’d have to spend upwards of Rs 5000 to get a decent quality smartphone in the country, but with this Rs 500 phone, the company hopes to change the dynamics and demographics of smartphone users in India.
We’re not sure about how the phone is going to turn out, but hopefully, the company will keep the current market standards in mind before dishing out the phone.
In addition to the price, Ringing Bells also claims that once they successfully assemble the first batch of the phone, they will start manufacturing the product as part of the Make in India initiative.
This is reminiscent of the Datawind Aakash tablet, but we hope that unlike Aakash’s miserable failure, Ringing Bells actually succeeds in launching & selling the product. So, are you ready for Rs 500 smartphone?
