Anticipating a growth in the ultra-affordable smartphone market, Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has launched an under Rs 5,000 smartphone in India dubbed the Redmi Go, which is powered by Android Oreo (Go Edition).

The Xiaomi Redmi Go has been priced at Rs 4,499 and competes with the likes of the Yu Yunique 2, the Nokia 1 and the Xolo Era 4x.

The Redmi Go goes on sale starting 22 March.

The entry-level Xiaomi Redmi Go comes with a 5-inch HD display bundled with a Snapdragon 425 processor. It is a lightweight device at 137 grams. Running on the Android Go platform, the Redmi Go comes with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of on-board storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD card.

In terms of optics, the rear of the Redmi Go sports an 8-megapixel camera with LED flash while the front sports a 5-megapixel camera that supports an aperture of f/2.2.

The dual SM phone offers support for 4G VoLTE connectivity also offers support for 20 regional languages.

Xiaomi is offering a 3,000mAh battery inside the Redmi Go which is touted to deliver a standby time of up to 10 days.
