Diwali is long gone yet the restless mobile phone makers in India still don’t want to take a break. Oppo is one of them as it has launched another smartphone in India dubbed the Oppo R17 Pro. The phone has been launched in India for Rs 45,990.
Touted to be a competition for the OnePlus 6T, the phone was initially launched in China. The company also launched a base variant of the phone, the R17.
Here’s a quick look at the new Oppo R17 Pro.

The display is unlike anything what we have seen on an Oppo smartphone. It comes with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display which is vibrant and outputs very crisp colours. The dual-tone finish at the back isn’t something unique. Why I say this? Because that’s what every smartphone maker is offering today. You can be sure of the sturdiness of the phone as its wrapped in a fat layer of Gorilla Glass 6.
The Radiant Mist colour (as Oppo calls it) didn’t impress me that much, though I like the green variant better.
At 183 grams the phone feels light and compact.
Inside, it runs on a Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor coupled with 8GB of RAM. At this price I was expecting a better processor but to my disappointment its a mid-tier Snapdragon. It packs 128GB of in-built storage.
It also comes with an in-display fingerprint scanner which is responsive.
On the rear, the phone houses a triple camera setup which comprises of a 12+20-megapixel sensor coupled with a TOF 3D stereo camera to capture better depth. On the front it comes with a 25-megapixel with multiple beautification feature.
Power management and battery juice responsibilities are taken care of by a 3,700mAh battery that supports the company’s SuperVOOC fast charging. The company claims that it can help charge your phone up to 40 percent in just 10-minutes.
Oppo might have played a very risky hand at pricing this phone at Rs 45,990. This is even beyond the OnePlus territory and not a place where you’d want to be. All I can say to the Oppo R17 Pro is: Good luck.
