OnePlus has announced the India pricing of the OnePlus 6T and the base 6GB RAM + 128GB storage variant will start at Rs 37,999 this year, going up to Rs 45,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model. The phone was first launched in the United States on Monday, where it will be selling with T-Mobile.

This is the third iteration of T series smartphone from the Chinese company, which everyone calls as a mid-cycle upgrade and will be available in India from 1 November via Amazon and will start selling at offline stores like the Reliance Digital from 3 November onwards.

The phone gets a higher price tag, but that was likely to happen with a bigger screen, new features and a bigger battery in tow.

OnePlus has decided that selling the 64GB in 2018 makes no sense, which is why the 6T’s base variant starts with 128GB storage, still non-expandable. But there’s more in terms of features and here’s what you need to know about the latest OnePlus phone.

First things first, the OnePlus 6T gets a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen, which is bigger than the 6.2-inch dimensions on the OnePlus 6. It is running on Android Pie version of Oxygen OS that was first seen on the OnePlus 6 a few months back, and we can definitely vouch for its efficiency.

The 6T still runs on the reliable Snapdragon 845 processor, with 6/8GB RAM and storage options stretching up to 256GB, just like with the OnePlus 6. It’s still a dual-SIM phone though. No, it doesn’t support 5G connectivity, but Qualcomm has confirmed that the next OnePlus phone (probably the 7) will support the next-gen in connectivity.

Design-wise, there are a few changes with the 6T as the company has ditched the regular notch, in favour of the water-drop notch, which we have seen on phones from Oppo and Vivo. This ensures that the screen available to view content is much larger than its predecessor.

The highlight feature has to be the in-display fingerprint scanner. That again, is not a new feature, and Vivo has strong claims to that laurel in the industry.

This results in a big difference at the back of the 6T, with no sensor housing, giving it a clean, uniform finish. The cameras remain the same, but the company has added a couple of software enhancements to improve low-light and portrait photos.

There’s also a bigger 3,700mAh battery with the new phone, a big bump from the 3,300mAh unit on the OnePlus 6. This has been possible as OnePlus (against everyone’s wishes) becomes the latest to ditch the headphone jack.

Because of this, the company announced the USB Type-C version of the Bullets earphones, which has been priced at Rs 1,490 for the Indian market.
