Major flagship launches of the year are slowly coming through, and after the Galaxy S9 from Samsung, there’s more to come. Over the next few months, major Chinese brands like Xiaomi and OnePlus that do really well in India, will unveil their latest flagship phones.

We’ve already covered what the Mi Mix 2S could offer in 2018, and now it’s time to look at the OnePlus 6.

The next OnePlus phone is likely to pack the latest hardware from Snapdragon, offer gigabit speed internet, and some major design overhauling. What all can we expect from the OnePlus 6? Here’s everything you need to know.

OnePlus Phone with the Notch

Yep, almost every leak out there highlights the presence of a notch on the front of the OnePlus 6. The actual phone hasn’t showed up yet, but leaks these days more or less show the real deal. The tall size screen is likely to sport a 2160x1080 pixels resolution, unless OnePlus decides to up the display ante in 2018.

One also needs to consider what the cousins of OnePlus, that is Oppo and Vivo, are working on. Android is going big with the ‘notch design’ this year, with a software-enabled Android P, as we’ve seen with the developer preview version.

New-look Design Incoming

After the success of the OnePlus 5 series, expect a radical design change with the OnePlus 6. The notch-centric design points us towards a taller frame for the phone, significantly changing its use case. We don’t expect OnePlus to move away from using a metal finish for its device, and that’s always a good thing.

The dual cameras could switch from horizontal to vertical placement at the back. The fingerprint scanner is the intriguing one, but will OnePlus offer the feature on the display? Let’s wait and watch out for that.

AI-Powered Camera

After ditching the telephoto lens in favour of a lower aperture lens on the 5T, the OnePlus 6 could change the camera dynamics further. We’ve seen multiple phones getting cameras with artificial intelligence (AI), including the Honor View 10.

And OnePlus 6 will jump into the ring with a similar feature, embedded into the camera. Will it work as well as the Google Pixel 2 camera? Let’s keep our fingers crossed on that one.

What About Hardware?

The rest will work its way out as usual. Snapdragon 845 with 6GB and 8GB RAM is more likely to be the variants offered, unless OnePlus feels the need to offer a 10GB memory also.

There will be Dual-SIM support, as well as 4G VoLTE connectivity, along with highest standard of gigabit internet speeds. Storage options could be 64GB, 128GB and even 256GB, all of them non-expandable as usual.

From 3,300mAh battery on the 5T, the taller screen size compels OnePlus to increase the battery size as well. It would be ideal to have a battery size of 4,000mAh, but it seems 3,500mAh to 3,700mAh will be more likely.

The OnePlus 5T got the same price as the OnePlus 5, but will that trend continue with the OnePlus 6? From Rs 32,999 for the 64GB variant of the OnePlus 5T, most reports suggest the starting price of the OnePlus 6 could be hiked to Rs 34,999 for the basic model.

The OnePlus 6 is likely to launch in a few months from now, and India will be one of its biggest markets when it does. Stay tuned for more updates.
