New Reliance JioPhone 2 to Be Launched on 15 August at Rs 2,999
The JioPhone is Reliance’s most successful venture so far, with currently more than 25 million users in India. At a time when one JioPhone just wasn’t enough, the company has decided to launch another feature phone to disrupt the Indian market.
Get ready as the JioPhone is getting a successor – the JioPhone 2, which was announced at the Reliance AGM on Thursday.
The new JioPhone is set to be launched on 15 August and will be made available at Jio retail stores across India. It sports a completely new design and comes with a QWERTY keypad. The phone will be available at an introductory price of Rs 2,999.
The JioPhone 2 comes with a 2.4-inch QVGA display which is almost equal to what we saw on the JioPhone.
What’s new is that the JioPhone 2 comes with a QWERTY keypad and it comes with a dual-SIM slot. It’s not a fresh design and take after other phones like Nokia E5 and the BlackBerry Curve 9220.
The JioPhone 2 also offers VoLTE and VoWi-Fi connectivity and will also support NFC, FM Radio, GPS and Wi-Fi.
It will run on the same version of KaiOS as supported in the JioPhone. It comes with a 2-megapixel rear camera and a VGA camera on the front. The JioPhone 2 phone will offer the same features and applications as before with exception of certain additional apps like WhatsApp and YouTube which have just been announced for the JioPhone.
For memory support, it offers 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB via a microSD card. For backup there is a 2000mAh battery inside which is non-removable.
