HMD Global, the makers of Nokia smartphones running on Android, announced the Nokia 6 2018 edition, Nokia 7 Plus and 8 Sirocco for the Indian market on Wednesday, 4 April. These phones, after making their debut at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 in February are entering our shores this month.

The prices start from Rs 16,999 for Nokia 6, and go up to Rs 49,999 for the Nokia 8 Sirocco. All three phones will be available both online and offline from 30 April onwards.

The improved Nokia 6 smartphone this year gets a single 16-megapixel Zeiss optics camera unit, and claimed to support fast charging with Snapdragon 630 processor in tow. The phone still comes with a 5.5-inch Full-HD screen, running on Android 8.0 Oreo and an 8-megapixel camera on the front.

The mid-range segment is heavily crowded with brands like Xiaomi, Honor and Motorola. So, Nokia will have its hands full competing with these mainstays, who have build their brand over the past few years, when Nokia was missing in the country.

Talking about the Nokia 7 Plus and Nokia 8 Sirocco, these are the first Nokia phones from the brand to come with bezel-less 18:9 ratio curved screen, which has become the norm nowadays.

Nokia 7 Plus gets a big, 6-inch screen, packs Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB of RAM and 128GB on-board storage to everyone’s liking. The phone has a 12-megapixel dual rear camera with aperture f/1.7 and f/2.6 respectively. The phone packs a 3800mAh battery and runs on Android 8.0 Oreo version.

Nokia 8 Sirocco gets Snapdragon 835 processor, not the latest, but still competent enough. It has a 5.5-inch P-OLED screen with 2560x1440 pixels resolution.

Both these phones pack the same set of dual cameras at the back, optimised by Zeiss optics. The cameras we came across on the Nokia 8 last year didn't overwhelm us and we're hopeful the Nokia 8 Sirocco manages to better its quality.
