Samsung plans to announce a new release date for its Galaxy Fold smartphone in the United States soon, according to NDTV Gadgets 360.

Samsung's mobile business Chief DJ Koh said that the company has reviewed the defect in the Galaxy Fold and is close to making a decision about the phone's launch, according to South Korean Publication The Korea Herald.

The company had earlier postponed the first foldable smartphone’s launch after several early reviewers found the phone’s display malfunctioning within days.

The company "has reviewed the defect caused from substances [that entered the device], and we will reach a conclusion today or tomorrow [on the launch],” Koh told The Korea Herald, according to The Verge.

Koh said that the launch "will not be too late," with no confirmed date for the launch.

Earlier this week, the company had sent out communications to consumers who had pre-ordered the phone that Samsung will specify regarding the shipment orders in two weeks.
