Apple India Starts Offering Warranty on iPhones Bought From US
Now you can buy the iPhone in the US and get its warranty covered in India.
Next time you get the iPhone 8, 8 Plus or even the upcoming iPhone X from the US, you’ll be able to bring it back to the country, and still enjoy the benefits of the 1-year warranty.
This change has been quietly brought about this week, and will come as a big relief for those who don’t want to spend upwards of Rs 80,000 to own the iPhone in India.
We’ve confirmed the change with our sources, who also highlighted that this is an in-country warranty, now opening up to consumers in India.
So, Indian consumers can now get iPhone from the United States, UAE or even the United Kingdom (at their prices), and not worry about any mishaps with the phone. Apple has always been on the fence on this matter, as stated in the Hardware Warranty section on its website.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.Terms of Hardware Warranty
The days of iOS jailbreak could come to an end with this move, as the iPhones (at US pricing) will become more appealing for buyers in India.
The in-country iPhone warranty is only applicable if you buy the unlocked version of the iPhone from these countries.
This news could also spark interest of people who might see this as an opportunity to make money by shipping the devices and selling them here at higher than printed prices.
iPhone 8 and 8 Plus are selling in the country starting from Rs 64,000, while the iPhone X (available from 3 November) will cost you as much as Rs 1,02,000 this year.
So, are you going to buy the new iPhone from the US this year? With this condition on offer, we can’t argue if you do.
