Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg is celebrating his 35th birthday on 14 May 2019 and it seems that Mr Facebook might not have a very "happy" birthday.

Last year was a topsy-turvy ride for the company being embroiled in a lot of controversies and scandals around data theft and privacy. Ever since then, Facebook has put in a shift to ensure they clean their image in the market and work towards making user privacy better.

At the helm of it all, Mark Zuckerberg has been battling Congress hearings, the backlash on social media and what not! So, amidst all of this, do you think that even one of the richest persons in the world would celebrate a birthday with a smile on his face?

Former Facebook founder Chris Hughes parted ways with the company highlighting that it has lost its vision to develop a safe platform for users and also segued into a proposition of splitting up Facebook.

In order to tackle this problem, Facebook is set to create new privacy positions within the company that would include a committee, an external evaluator and a chief compliance officer.

The company is also prepped for any fines that come its way from the Federal Trade Commission. The company has already kept aside $3 billion, anticipating a record fine coming their way in relation to the Cambridge Analytica data scandal that involved 87 million users.

At the recently concluded Facebook Developers Conference, Zuckerberg emphasised on how the company is looking to build an ecosystem, which is not only safe and intuitive and also spoke on how developers are getting lesser access to user data.

These are small steps indeed, but such a stepping stone can only ensure that Facebook becomes a more secure social networking website than what it is right now. Maybe then Zuckerberg’s birthday cake will start tasting a bit sweeter.
