Yamaha Motors to Collaborate With Verizon to Beef up Security

The decision comes after a 40% rise in cybercrime in Japan, where Yamaha has its headquarters.

Yamaha Motors has chosen Verizon to support two of its Information Technology programmes.

Verizon is one of the largest American broadband and telecommunications company which is based in New York, Manhattan.

Security will be managed by Verizon’s Investigative response team (RISK) and the online customer experience will be handled by Verizon Digital Media Services.

With the increased frequency and sophistication of cybercrime, there was a need to enhance our existing security measures. We chose to work with Verizon due to their global incident response support.

Founded in 1955, Yamaha Motors is one of the world’s biggest manufacturers of motorcycles, marine and other motorised products. The company has more than 50,000 employees across the globe and its headquarters is located at Shizouka, Japan.

The threat of cybercrime is a growing cause for concern for Japan multinationals, with a growing number of high-profile data breaches in recent months. Recent statistics from the Japanese National Police Agency indicate a 40% rise in cybercrime from 2014.

Yamaha Motors will have direct access to Verizon’s security assets through Verizon’s Rapid Response Retainer. It will also help Yamaha Motors’ Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) to further reinforce its global security capabilities.
