Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the updated version of two of it’s most iconic motorcycles the Street Twin and the Street Scrambler. The 2019 variant of the motorcycles come with a few cosmetic changes and a new high-torque engine that is claimed to deliver more power and torque.
The company is expecting 2019 to be a good one for the 500cc plus category, however the decline in sales of the superbike segment in India has many motorcycle manufacturers worried.
Could this be the reason that Triumph has priced the new Street Twin and Street Scrambler aggressively at Rs 7.45 lakh and Rs 8.55 lakh respectively (ex-showroom pan India).
Triumph Street Twin 2019
The new Triumph Street Twin comes with an updated high-torque 900cc, liquid-cooled parallel-twin Bonneville engine which the company says is 18 percent powerful than before. In terms of numbers, the bike pumps out 65PS of max power and 80Nm of torque at just 3,800 rpm.
Triumph has also increased the rev limit of the bike to 7,500 rpm now. The exhaust note (as we heard at the event) is the unmistakable sound of a pure-bred British twin. Music to a petrol head's ears.
The bike sports a contemporary design and adds a few cosmetic changes to the headlamp cluster, updates to the side panels with new graphics. The speedometer too gets a new look with a 'Bonneville' badge.
It comes with 41mm upside down Brembo front forks which offers 140mm of travel. The seats have also been changed and made a bit smoother for comfortable long distance riding.
Triumph Street Scrambler 2019
Most of the design elements of the new Triumph Scrambler have been borrowed from the older variant. Though the overall design remains the same, the bike is now 3 kgs lighter which makes it more terra firma friendly.
It carries the same signature dual exhaust and now receives new handlebars which are wider at 835 mm. The updated cartridge-type front forks are spaced out a tad wider than before, giving the bike a very aggressive stance and an imposing street presence.

Speaking of riding, the Street Scrambler comes with the same performance specifications as the Street Twin with no difference in the numbers. Thanks to the addition of torque assist clutch,the ride has been promised to be a bit smoother.
In terms of electronics, the bike has been bundled with three riding modes: Road, Rain and Off-road. The Off-road mode disables the ABS and Traction Control setting.
It’s also worth mentioning that the ABS on the Scrambler is switchable unlike the Street Twin.
The company is offering spoked 19-inch wheels on the front and 17-inch at the back.
In terms of the competition, the Triumph Street Scrambler in its price segment is in direct competition with Ducati’s Street Scrambler Icon while the Street Twin doesn’t have many competitors snapping at its heels at the moment.
