Triumph Motorcycles India has just launched the 2018 Bonneville Speedmaster classic cruiser, priced at Rs 11.11 lakh ex-showroom. This cruiser motorcycle is powered by a parallel-twin 1,200 cc engine that puts out 77 PS of power and 106 Nm of torque.
The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster blends the classic styling of the Bonneville range, with the sportiness of the Triumph Bobber and the engine from the Bonneville T120, in one package.
It can also be customised to different looks – a highway look complete with windshield and panniers, or a maverick look with straight handlebar and single seat. The Bonneville has forward-placed foot pegs and a low seat height of just 705 mm, giving it a classic cruiser stance.
The Speedmaster competes in the premium motorcycle market in India against the likes of the Harley Davidson Roadster 1200 and Harley Davidson Heritage Softails. Where it’s different is in the amount of tech in the bike.
The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster comes with different ride modes – road and rain as well as cruise control. It features an LED headlamp and a square-box swing arm with a single rear monoshock. It has a 12-litre fuel tank and is liquid cooled.
It features large 310 mm twin Brembo disc brakes in front and a single 255 mm disc at the rear with ABS. It is fitted with relatively small 16-inch spoke wheels with chunky 130/90 front and 150/80 rear tyres.
Triumph offers a 16,000 km service interval on the Bonneville Speedmaster, which is quite a lot. It also comes with a two-year unlimited KM warranty (like other Triumph bikes as well). It is available in three colours – red, black and a black-white combination.
Triumph in India claims to have grown 63 percent in the past four years, having sold over 4,500 bikes in the same period. About 75 percent of its bikes are assembled in India (CKD), out of a factory in Manesar.
