Yes, you heard it right. Range Rover Evoque will soon be available as a convertible SUV.
As surprising as it sounds, Range Rover has actually been toying with the idea of a convertible SUV since 2012, where it had showcased the concept of a convertible Evoque.
Range Rover has definitely improved the 2016 Evoque in the looks department as compared to the concept.
The roof stows in 18 seconds and can be raised in 21 seconds at speeds of up to 48 kilometres an hour. You would have noticed the absence of anti-roll bars but if that situation arrives, two aluminium bars in the rear quarter panels will automatically be deployed in 90 milliseconds.
The new Evoque will be offered in Dynamic and Dynamic HSE trim levels. It will be available with a new 178bhp 2.0-litre TD4 Ingenium diesel engine and the 237bhp turbocharged 2.0-litre Si4 petrol engine. Both of these engines will be linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission system.
The Evoque Convertible has gained a little weight, 270 kilos to be exact, which is more than its fixed-head siblings. This is due to the extra bracing needed to maintain chassis rigidity, plus the mass of the powered fabric hood mechanism.
The car takes care of your entertainment needs with the new InControl Touch Pro infotainment system. It bundles a navigation system, WiFi connectivity and a premium sound system, along with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, which makes the interior feel premium.
The car will be up for sale in 2016 and it has already started creating waves, but will the Range Rover maintain the strong run next year too?
With cars like these, the answer seems to be a yes.
