Open-top SUVs have been an object of desire ever since the World War II era Jeeps. Keeping with that aspiration, Jaguar Land Rover has launched an open-top version of its Range Rover Evoque SUV. The Range Rover Evoque Convertible is the most expensive in the line-up, priced at Rs 69.53 lakh, ex-showroom. The base model Range Rover Evoque (5-door, hard top) is priced at Rs 50.20 lakh.

The Range Rover Evoque convertible comes with a fabric top, which folds back flush behind the rear seats. It is a two-door SUV, that can seat five. The roof folds back electronically in a Z-shape, but it robs the vehicle of a little boot space.

A convertible design, it will make off-road adventures even more thrilling. The downside though, at least in most of India, is the dust and the humidity, as well as the lack of privacy.

The Range Rover Evoque convertible also comes with perforated leather seats and ambient lighting. It is powered by a 2-litre Ingenium series petrol motor that puts out 237 bhp (177 Kw) of power and 340 Nm of torque with a 9-speed automatic transmission. It comes in the HSE Dynamic trim only and also has an all-wheel drive system with multiple off-road modes.

Other features of the Range Rover Evoque convertible include a heads-up display that shows vehicle information in the windshield, such as gear position, speed and navigation information. It is also equipped with a Wi-Fi hotspot system that can accommodate up to eight devices.

It also has a Surround Camera System, that uses a series of cameras placed around the vehicle to offer a near 360 degree view of the surroundings. But of course, this is a convertible, so it doesn’t really make sense to be looking at a screen when you could just drop the top and take in the scenery.
