Porsche unveiled the new Macan SUV on 25 July. As with all Porsche designs, this one also looks a lot like the outgoing version - from the front at least. But the company had to do something to keep it fresh.
The rear of the car has been redesigned to quite an extent, to make it look more futuristic.
The tail-lights are a long horizontal LED strip and gives the rear some character. It is said that this will be carried over to the next generation of 911 cars.
The headlights have also been given a minor tweak which will be hardly noticeable to an untrained eye. The same goes for the wheels. Porsche has introduced two new colours with the new Macan - Miami Blue and Crayon.
On the inside, the Macan gets an all new 11-inch infotainment system that comes loaded with features like Satnav, voice recognition, etc. This car also uses an air ioniser for cleaner air within the cabin.
Added features include automatic acceleration, braking and steering in slow-moving traffic. Nothing can be said about the capabilities of these features as of now.
New features also include a new 'GT' steering wheel that has a drive selector knob mounted on it. The car keeps the old Macan's buttons that keep the new car close to the traditional Macan feel.
The chassis has also got some fine tuning and Porsche has given this car a new set of tyres that are wider at the rear to help with better handling. There is no word from Porsche on the engine on the new Macan. What can be expected is a few petrol options, maybe a hybrid version as well but no diesel unit.
