Kawasaki has launched its Versys-X 300 adventure bike in the Indian market, and this 300cc two-wheeler can be bought for Rs 4.6 lakh (ex-showroom). Adventure bikes are slowly making their foray into the country, and it’s not surprising to see that Kawasaki wants to be part of the growing segment as well.

The bike, as claimed by Kawasaki, will be man-assembled at Kawasaki’s Chakan plant in Pune. The fact that Kawasaki cannot manufacture the bike right now, results in a heftier price tag then what we’ve come to see in recent times.

Kawasaki claims that the Versys-X 300 is an adventure bike that has been made for any road, offering all kind of performance. The bike is powered by a 296-cc twin cylinder engine mated with a 6-speed transmission.

Versys-X 300 comes with a claimed peak power of 40PS and 25Nm of torque, now those numbers aren’t impressive for the price tag, but Kawasaki says that more than power, the low-end torque will enable the bike to move around comfortably, even in the toughest terrains.

The bike gets 19-inch tyres on the front but a wider 17-inch wheel at the back, both supported by 290 and 220mm single petal disc brakes respectively.

The overall look and feel of the bike is sporty, and the addition of windshield, along with spaces to fit other accessories (saddle bag, jerry can holder) does leave a strong impression. It’s got a kerb weight of 184 Kg, and offers 180-mm ground clearance also.

With its 17-litre fuel tank, we’re pleased to see at least one adventure bike in recent times to offer a respectable capacity.

While the overall bike offers promise, we’re not sure if bike enthusiasts will pick the Versys-X 300 at this price when you consider the engine power and compare it with other bikes that cost as little as 4.5 lakh in the market.
