Jaguar Land Rover has added a new petrol motor to its XE and XF sedan range in India. This new two-litre Ingenium series petrol engine comes with a twin-scroll turbocharger that claims to reduce turbo-lag and improve fuel efficiency. Constructed from aluminium, the new engine is lighter than the older two-litre petrol motor these sedans had.

The two-litre Ingenium series petrol motor in the Jaguar XE and Jaguar XF is offered in two states of tune – 147Kw (200 bhp) and 184Kw (250 bhp). The latter is slightly more powerful, by about 10 horsepower than the model it replaces. The engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with sequential shifts.

The Ingenium series engine features variable valve lift – a technology that will allow the engine to ‘breathe’ better at different rpms, likely making it more fuel efficient.

The 250 bhp motor comes only with the Portfolio variants of the XE and XF.
