Shelling out Rs 48 lakh for a motorcycle is not for the faint hearted. But someone just did. The Indian Roadmaster Elite has been launched in India at Rs 48 lakh ex-showroom. Only two units have been allotted to India out of the 300 globally, and both have been sold.

The Indian Roadmaster Elite is special because it actually has 23-karat gold in its paintwork on the tank. Each of the bikes is hand-painted with a 12-layer dual-tone special painting process, to give it a deep shine.

The bike is huge and heavy, but packed with equipment. It weighs over 433 Kg, but comes equipped with everything you will see in a luxury car. The highlight is the 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with GPS, with a six-speaker audio system. It features cruise control, heated grips, arm-rests for the pillion, heated seats and electrically adjustable windshield.

Power for the Indian Roadmaster Elite comes from a massive two-cylinder 1,811 cc V-twin engine that puts out about 150 Nm of torque with a six-speed manual transmission.

The Roadmaster Elite competes with the Harley Davidson CVO – another expensive, exclusive bike. Those who can’t stretch this far would settle for a Honda Goldwing (at Rs 30-odd lakh). This bike is more about the show, than the go. It’s the bling factor that counts. And, of course, the exclusivity.
