Remember Ajay Devgn as Singham stepping out of his Mahindra Scorpio, in slow-mo, to shoot the bad guys?

The movie is one of the most successful cop flicks in India and it managed to do something that we loved – it made the Indian policeman look cool.

What does it take to be the best police car in the world – speed? Looks?

Police cars across the world range from SUVs to hatchbacks. Here’s a list of some of the countries which have the coolest cop cars.

With its darkened headlamps framed by daytime running LEDs, aggressive front bull-bar, and scalloped body sides, the Dodge Charger Pursuit is one of the best looking police cars in the world.

Like the standard Charger, the Pursuit edition is offered with the choice of a 292hp 3.6-litre V-6 engine or the great sounding 370hp Hemi V-8 engine.

The Italians are known for creating the best looking sports cars and superbikes around the world. To chase bad guys on the run, you need a fast car and the Italian police has exactly that.

According to the Italian news agency ANSA, Lamborghini donated the Huracan model to the police. Recently a modified version of the Huracan broke the half-mile speed record.

The Italians do know how to do everything in style, even if it’s catching the bad guys.

The Abu Dhabi police has the Nissan GT-R in its line-up of swanky sports cars that they use as police cars. The GT-R is one of the best value for money sports cars in the world.

It is powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbocharged 24-valve V6 engine that can take this car to over 300 km/h – fast enough to give any sports car a run for its money.

India – Maruti Gypsy

Yes, the Maruti Gypsy is a part of this list.

The car is powered by a 1.3-litre engine and produces a modest 80 bhp.

It might not be the fastest car in the world or even look like one for that matter, but when you see a cop with flashing lights behind you in one of these, you know you’re in trouble.

The Indian police have been keeping bad guys off the street with the help of this car for years.

If we ever have a Lamborghini or a Ferrari as a cop car in India, let’s face it, it won’t be as helpful in curbing crime as the Maruti Gypsy – India’s roads just aren’t built for that kind of speed and let’s not even get started on the traffic.

Therefore, this car has to be the best police car, because this is as intimidating as it gets.
