Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has started the sale of BharatBenz buses in India.
The 39-seater front-engine staff bus is a part of a range of three buses which will meet the needs of school as well as tourist transportation.
According to BharatAutos, the first set of staff buses have been delivered in Mumbai.
The 9-tonne, 39-seater front-engine BharatBenz staff bus promises enhanced fuel efficiency and features like anti-lock braking system (ABS), front and rear anti-roll bars and fire resistant material.
The buses follow a patented ‘Aluminique’ design technology which according to Daimler, offers strong structural stability.
The manufacturing plant based in Oragadam can produce 1,500 units per year which can be increased to 4,000 units in future.
The buses will be available over a network of 80 dealerships which will also offer BharatBenz Financial services, which include vehicle insurance and maintenance contracts.
