BMW Motorrad Launch Two New Adventure Bikes, F 750 GS & F 850 GS

Two new adventure motorcycles launched by BMW Motorrad. The BMW F 750 GS and 850 GS priced between 10-15 lakhs

BMW Motorrad, the German car maker’s motorcycle division, has debuted four new motorcycles in the Indian market with an aim to expand their portfolio in one of the largest two-wheeler market in the world.

In the city commuter segment, the company launched two motorcycles, the BMW G 310 S and the BMW G 310 R. These two will be launched in the second half of 2018.

In the off-road adventure tourer segment, the company launched the BMW F 750 GS and the BMW F 850 GS. These two have been made without the collaboration with TVS ,unlike the G 310 series.

Where the F 750 GS has been priced at Rs 12.25 lakh, the F 850 GS will be available at Rs 13.75 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the same have already started and they will made available very soon. In all probability, they will be launched near September 2018.

Talking about the performance of the both these motorcycles, both feature the powerful 2-cylinder in-line 853cc engine. Where the BMW F 750 GS produces maximum power of 77 hp at 7500 rpm, the BMW F 850 GS pumps out 95 hp at 8250 rpm of maximum power.

Both offer a 6-speed manual gearbox and come with two riding modes ‘Rain’ and ‘Road’. There are additional modes to choose from like ‘Dynamic’, ‘Enduro’ and ‘Enduro Pro’.

Both the BMW motocycles come with a new instrument cluster design, consisting an analogue speedometer and 6.5-inch TFT multifunctional display. One can also connect a smartphone with the bike using bluetooth to make phone calls and can even listen to music.

These motorcycles seem to be targeting a very niche market, people who are pure bred adventure seekers. The Honda Africa Twin and the Triumph Explorer 800 seems to be stiff competition in the price segment.
