There has been a recent torrent of 200cc motorcycles in the Indian two-wheeler market that’s mostly dominated by 100cc to 150cc bikes. This means that the demand for more power is being met by aspirational products that not only satiate their need for speed and adventure, but also offer an attractive price tag.

The latest 200cc motorcycles launched in India have been the Hero MotoCorp line-up of XPulse and Xtreme bikes, but there are many more you can consider when looking to buy a 200cc motorcycle.

So, here’s a list of the top 200cc motorcycles in India you can buy.

1. Hero Xtreme 200R

The Hero Xtreme 200R was launched last year and was being pitted as the flagship that would get Hero some numbers in the 200cc segment.

Though the bike didn’t perform with flying colours it did manage to get the attention of some of the Indian two-wheeler buyers. The Xtreme sports a very new-age design and comes bundled with a few premium features.

It is powered by a 199cc air-cooled engine that pumps out 18 bhp of power and 17 Nm of torque. Mated to a 5-speed gearbox, the Hero Xtreme also comes with single channel ABS.

Price: Rs 89,900 (ex-showroom)

2. Hero MotoCorp XPulse 200T

This is the latest addition to the Hero MotoCorp family and is primarily meant for the commuter class. The XPulse 200T borrows the same engine from the Xtreme, but is a tougher variant than its predecessor.

The XPulse 200T comes with soft tyres for comfortable road riding and and comes with 37 mm telescopic front forks and a 7-step adjustable monoshock on the rear.

What’s a surprise for many is that the 200T only gets a carburetted engine and not fuel-injected, which could be deal-breaker for many. At 150 Kg the bike is nimble to ride.

Price: Rs 94,000 (ex-showroom)

3. TVS Apache RTR 200 4V

Born and bred on the race track, the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V brings to the game TVS’s racing philosophy not only with the design, but also with engine power and specifications.

The Apache 200 4V comes with a single-cylinder air-cooled 199cc engine that’s been mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The bike has sharp characteristics and attractive colour schemes to go with.

The bike is capable of producing 20.7 bhp of power and 18Nm of peak torque. If you’re not impressed with that, the bike can go 0-60 Kms in just 3.6 seconds.

Price: Rs 96,635 - Rs 1.19 lakh (ex-showroom)

4. Hero MotoCorp XPulse 200

The most economical off-road motorcycle that’s being offered in India, the Hero XPulse 200 is an upgrade to the Impulse which has been doing rounds on the Indian roads for a while now.

The XPulse 200 comes with the same 200cc engine that’s being offered with the 200T. The Xpulse is an interesting addition to Hero’s line-up, one that will excite off-road and adventure enthusiasts in the country.

The Xpulse is being offered in two variants: carburettor and fuel-injected, for which buyers will have to shell out more.

Price: Rs 97,000-Rs 1.05 lakh (ex-showroom)

5. Hero Xtreme 200S

The Hero Xtreme 200S brings a very refreshed design to the game though many would say it looks like a stripped version of the Karizma.

The design of the bike looks awkward from the front, at least from the visuals we have seen, but hopefully with its under Rs 1 lakh price tag, buyers will find it appealing. The headlamp cluster styling is something were having a look at for the first time.

Many will be disappointed by the power delivery of the bike as it’s underwhelming at just 18 bhp.

This bike goes up against Bajaj’s Pulsar 200 series, TVS Apache 200 range and slew of bikes in the 150cc segment that are available in this price range for Indian buyers.

Price: Rs 98,500 (ex-showroom)

6. Bajaj Pulsar 200NS

The Bajaj Pulsar 200NS is an eye-catching motorcycle, which also brings with it more power in the segment.

The liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine is a powerful one delivering 23 bhp of power and 18Nm of peak torque. It comes with a 6-speed gearbox and can go from 0-60 kmph in just 3.8 secs.

The 200NS is a street-focused machine and can notch up a top speed of 136 kmph.

Price: Rs 99,155 - Rs 1.16 lakh (ex-showroom)

7. Bajaj Pulsar 200RS

The Bajaj Pulsar 200RS raises the bar a bit and takes the 200NS to a sportier side of the spectrum. The fully-faired motorcycle has the looks that’ll make your head turn twice not to mention that it borrows the same engine as on the 200NS.

Adding to the above, the bike also sports clip-on handlebars, stubby side-mounted exhaust, and dual projector headlamps.

The power has been tweaked up a bit to 24.5 bhp while the top speed of the motorcycle is 141 kmph.

Price: Rs 1.25 - Rs 1.44 lakh (ex-showroom)

9. KTM RC 200

The most expensive offering in the 200cc line-up, the KTM RC 200 is currently the most popular faired motorcycle in India.

The aggressive styling of motorcycle makes it aerodynamic and offers excellent handling. It is a favourite among younger buyers.

The KTM RC 200 is a powerful motorcycle, which outputs 24.6 bhp of power and 19.2 Nm of peak torque.

Despite being on the pricey side of things the RC 200 has a lot of takers in the market.
