Jawa has launched the Perak in India for Rs 1.95 lakh (ex-showroom) which finally completes the lineup of motorcycles that the company had showcased last year. The Jawa Perak was initially announced at Rs 1.89 lakh, but now as the bike meets BS-VI norms and the engine has been upgraded, the price has gone up by Rs 6,000 per unit.

The company has announced that the booking for the Perak will start on 1 January, but deliveries for the same will start by April next year.

Considering Jawa hasn’t been able to complete the deliveries to buyers who purchased the Forty Two and the Jawa 300 many months ago, there are still doubts about whether it will be able to meet delivery dates for the Perak as well.

So what’s new? For one, it has an all-new design based on a modified version of the Volkswagen group’s MQB platform. While globally it comes in lift-back sedan and Kombi (station-wagon) body styles, India will only get the sedan version.

The big change is on the inside. There are far more soft-touch materials. The automatic now gets a drive-by-wire shifter and the instrument panel is an all-digital affair. It has customisable screens that can shift from showing gauges to navigation.
