Ford is one of the oldest automobile manufacturers in the world and has played the role of making cars a necessity, from being just a novelty during the first half of the 20th century.

Established in 1903, Ford Motor Company produced its 50 millionth vehicle on 16 March 1958.

The company achieved this milestone at a time when most automobile manufacturers could only dream of selling these many cars. And what better way to mark this milestone by selling the Thunderbird as their 50 millionth car.
