Talk about old wine in a new an old bottle. Volkswagen on Wednesday has launched the updated Polo and Vento for the Indian market, however the company hasn’t made any radical changes to the design nor the engine barring a few cosmetic updates.

The new Volkswagen Polo facelift has been launched starting at Rs 5.82 lakh going up to Rs 9.88 lakh for the top variant. On the other hand, the Volkswagen Vento has been launched at Rs 8.76 lakh, all are ex-showroom prices.

Additionally, the Polo facelift adds a chrome strip at the bottom of the grille with a revised bumper, and blacked out headlamp cluster.

Moving to the back of the car, it has an updated tail light design philosophy that seemingly adds a bit of a 3D effect to the setup. The new design also adds a roof spoilers with black finish.

The changes made to the Vento are almost similar with new styling on the full-LED headlamps in the top spec model and projector lights in the lower trims. It also gets a new bumper with new air damps and matching grille design.

Majority of the car looks like the older one barring a new set of multi-spoke alloy wheels.

The 1.5 litre diesel variant offers 108 bhp and 250Nm of peak torque. The petrol variant only comes with a 7-speed automatic gearbox while the diesel version gets the 5-speed manual gearbox as standard.

The 2019 variant of the Vento comes with a 1.2-litre four-cylinder turbocharged engine which puts out 105 bhp and 175 Nm of torque. There is also a 1.6-litre petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel available in this series.
